Welcome back to the Ihome Studio Expansion series! Today we will be giving you the inside scoop on how we designed the new Infinite Home Studio. We touched on our design process in this blog that we previously posted. But today you will see how we put that process to work! We hope you enjoy today’s post on designing our studio! Xo - Laurel
We started out by meeting with the team and considering our needs for the space. We live by our mantra, “we improve the way you live in your home," and this certainly applies to our own projects as well. We considered how we can improve the way we work in our studio and offices. This is an essential step when it comes to design!
The New Floor Plan
Once we work through our needs and wants for the space, we begin brainstorming solutions. David and I have been in the design-build business long enough to be able to efficiently work through problems by pulling from past experiences. But, we still find it very important to look at new design solutions, ideas, and inspiration. This is where Houzz, Pinterest, magazines, and design blogs come in handy! Our designers are constantly looking for new, yet trusted design solutions and inspiration!
Mood Boards
Once we have our solutions and inspiration, we like to lay it all out in a mood board. Mood boards are such an easy way to "try before you buy" when it comes to deciding on materials, colors, and the general style and feel of the space. We use an Australian company called Style Sourcebook to create collages of our designs, giving each room its own board. A good practice is to be as detailed as possible, noting colors, materials, and any other information that may be helpful.
